On 27 August 1939, Erich Warsitz the controls of Heinkel He-178 becomes the first man to fly a jet.
A few weeks earlier, he had been the first driver to take a flight on an airplane to a rocket engine, the Heinkel He-176, from the base of Peenemünde
These two research programs, high risk, were held in the utmost secrecy, under the watchful eyes of officials of Nazi Germany, Hitler to Göring and Udet through Milch.
Before and after these two major events in the development of aviation, Erich Warsitz was pilot testing, evaluating Luftwaffe aircraft, in flight testing Heinkel He-111 and Junkers Ju-88 the booster rockets for takeoff.
During this turbulent period, he has worked with Wernher von Braun (later Sir Apollo NASA), Hans Pabst von Ohain (inventor of the first operational reactor) or Ernst Heinkel (boss of the company Heinkel) and Willy Messerschmitt.
